Steve started lighting shows while still at school
in Surrey, working in local theatres at the weekends, after which he went
straight into a job in theatre (Woking). He spent several years working in
regional rep at the Redgrave - Farnham (where he designed the lighting for
several shows including Blythe Spirit and Bedroom Farce), at
the Theatre Royal Windsor, and touring shows, before an 8½ year stint at the
National Theatre where he was Resident Lighting Designer and Senior Technician
in the Loft theatre, which he helped design for the 'Transformation' season
2002. He worked for the R.S.C. running the lighting department for the 2004-5
London season at the Albery.

Steve and his partner also spend time renovating old properties
together and are about to re-locate to Nottingham to start on an enormous
Edwardian wreck with a friend.
